Don’t Let Your Fear Stop You!

As you move forward on your journey from where you are to where you want to be, you are going to have to confront some of your fears. Fear is a just a natural part of living.

Whenever you start a new project, take on a new venture, or put yourself out there, there’s usually some fear involved. Unfortunately, most people let fear stop them from taking the necessary steps to achieve their dreams.

Confronting your fears is a very necessary step in achieving success.

There is simply no other way.

Fear can be a helpful emotion, as it tells you when you need to be extra careful, keenly aware, and cautious. Fear is not an emotion that is telling you to stop. In fact, it’s telling you just the opposite!

Acknowledging your feelings of fear helps you know when you are stepping out of your comfort zone. It points your awareness to areas where you could improve and grow.

Successful people also feel fear. Yet they don’t let it get in the way of anything they want to do–or have to do. They understand that fear is something to be acknowledged, experienced, and taken along for the ride.  Feel the fear and do it anyway! You see, fear is more of a signal that we should stay alert and cautious. We can feel fear, but we can still move forward anyway.

Think of fear as a 2-year-old child who doesn’t want to go grocery shopping with you. Because you must buy groceries, you’ll just have to take the two year old with you. Fear is no different. In other words, acknowledge that fear exists but don’t let it keep you from doing important tasks.

Also realize that so many of our fears are self-created. We might frighten ourselves by fantasizing negative outcomes to any activity we might peruse or experience. Luckily, because we are the ones doing the fantasizing, we are also the ones who can stop the fear and bring ourselves into a state of clarity and peace by facing the actual facts, rather than giving in to our imaginations.

If a fear is too great for you to overcome, try breaking it down into smaller challenges.

Try starting out doing the parts of the project that don’t scare you so much. You need to give a speech in front of a large group? Try giving your speech in front of a small group of people who care for you. Work your way up until you are able to feel the fear but still move forward. As you do, you will build your confidence and eventually you won’t feel fear surrounding those issues because you’ll have done them enough to count it as a skill.

As you move toward your goal, don’t attach yourself so much to the outcomes.

Keep moving toward your dream doing everything you can to create what you want, then let it go and see what shows up. Sometimes the universe will have a better idea in mind for you and present a better opportunity when you were expecting something completely different. Don’t let fear keep you from moving forward. Even if the horrible outcome that you imagined happens, the universe will always provide for you another way to succeed. So be on the look out!

Trust that no matter what occurs, you are smart enough and strong enough to keep looking for, and attracting, opportunities.

If you are willing to try new experiences in spite of your fears, then more new experiences will present themselves for you to try. And the more you try, the more you are likely to succeed!

3 Secrets to a Happier Life

Posted: under Uncategorized.

1 – EMBRACE YOUR PASSIONS
Whether it’s your career, a hobby, coaching, or tutoring, pursue something that excites you. I love empowering people, to do that thing that absolutely makes their heart sing!

2 – TAKE RISKS
You never can tell if you’re going to enjoy something until you go out there and try it. You may hate it, but at least you’ll know — you’ll be able to put your energy into other activities.

3 – BE NICE TO YOURSELF
I used to struggle with self-esteem issues and think that I was good enough. All it did was make be doubt myself. These days I’m my biggest cheerleader, because to achieve anything in life, you have to BELIEVE YOU ARE WORTHY!

I have declared today LOVE YOURSELF DAY!

Today, I want you to think of five things that you love about yourself.

If you can’t think of five, then I want you to think of at least three. Write them down and every day, I want you to look at that list and start believing in the things about yourself you wrote on that sheet of paper.

And every week, you should …try to add one more reason to that list of reasons you should really love you!

Today, give yourself permission to doing something FUN and SPECIAL just for YOU!

Kicking the Approval Habit

Posted: under Uncategorized.
Tags: , , , , , , ,

One of the most insidious addictions we women struggle with is our craving for approval from others.  When our need for validation gets in the way of our being who we truly are, we’re in trouble. Fueled by a belief that we need their approval in order to be okay, we scurry around looking for “self-esteem” fixes from suppliers that are outside in ourselves. It doesn’t work!!

Of course we all need people to appreciate us, be our primary source of approval needs to come from ourselves. The very best way to kick the approval habit is to support and approve of ourselves.  This doesn’t mean that we overlook our shortcomings or pat ourselves on the back for being nasty, but in my many years of being a nurse and a life coach, I have seen very few people who err on the side of being too easy on themselves.

Authentic self-approval naturally leads to increased approval of others.  I have this client who attracts friends like flowers attracts bees. She is a heart-lifter, around her everyone feels better about themselves.  She always seems to have a sincere word of priase for those around her.

But others are not the only recipients of her approval.  She is also very self-confident and comfortable about bestowing accolades on herself.  It’s no unusual for her, in an unaffected and honest way to say something like, “I am so proud of the way I handled that!” Asked if she had always been so kind to herself, she giggled, “Oh no, I used to be my own worst enemy, but I learned to be my own best friend instead!”

When we learn to accept who we are right now and celebrate who we are becoming, we can KICK THE APPROVAL HABIT and rely on ourselves for the best approval fixes.

I wholeheartedly approve of myself right now.

What others thing of me is their choice, what I think of me is my choice.

I easily approve of others.

A Week Into the New Year…

Posted: under Uncategorized.
Tags: , , , , , , ,

Good morning everyone!!  Brrrrrr, it’s shivering cold in Denver this morning, but despite the cold, the freshly fallen snow from the other night is GORGEOUS!  So we are a week into 2010…how are you doing on the new goals you have set for yourself?  Or maybe you haven’t started just yet?

Tomorrow, Jan 9th I am conducting one of my Vision Board Workshops at Collage in Morrison, CO.  Creating a Vision Board is a FANTASTIC way to map out your goals and dreams for the coming year.  Your vision board is probably your most valuable tool.  It is your map of the future, a tangible representation of where you are going. It represent your dreams, your goals, and your ideal life.

Because your mind responds strongly to visual stimulation — by representing your desires with pictures and images you will actually strengthen and enhance their vibrational level.  The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” certainly holds true here. Visual images and pictures will stimulate your emotions, and your emotions are vibrational energy that activates the Law of Attraction.

You have already defined your dreams.
NOW, it’s time to illustrate them VISUALLY!

The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
-Oprah Winfrey

I invite you to join us tomorrow at Collage in Morrison, CO to put your goals into pictures at a Vision Board Workshop, from 9:00am to 1:o0pm!! IT’S A POWERFUL EXPERIENCE!

Float Like a Butterfly…

Posted: under Uncategorized.
Tags: , , , , , , ,

Float through life and try not to resist challenges when they come. I know that is easier said, than done! Resisting them holds them to you. Focus your mind on what you want, and then float above the challenging or negative things.

Imagine you are way up in the sky and looking down on the little dot of negativity.  When you do this you are detaching yourself from the negativity and seeing it for what it really is.

This one little process will keep you from drowning in a negative situation.
